Industrial production in Romania grew by 1.1 percent year-on-year in May of 2022, rebounding from an upwardly revised 7.2 percent drop a month earlier. It was the first increase in industrial production since last August, as production of manufacturing recovered (1.1% vs -8.1%), amid a softer decline in both electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-3.7% vs -11.0%) and mining and quarrying (-7.2% vs -11.3%). On a monthly basis, industrial output edged down 0.1 percent in May, after a downwardly revised 0.3 percent growth in the previous month. Considering the first five months of 2022, industrial production fell by 2.4%.
